Popularized mainly by Manbo and Salsa and introduced in EEUU by Cuban musicians who add the instrument to the Jazz bands. Candido Camero started using three conga drums each one with different pitch to create melodies and giving the instrument a different role, more as an melodic instrument without the limitation of being just a percussion for rhythm
